For my final year self-initiated project at University of the Arts London, I conducted a investigation into Human-Machine interaction inside the car, focusing on car enthusiasts and those who love to drive. There has been much publicity about self-driving cars in the past year, with autonomous vehicles and higher levels of in-vehicle technology regarded negetively and as the robot overlord enemy. I wanted to figure out why we loved cars to begin with, and what our current cars have that we can design into future production to keep the authentic connection alive, earn the trust of human drivers and even make us love them.
